Dual Citizen

you must live into the tension
and make yourself at home there
for paradox is your inheritance
and discomfort your dwelling place

the walls will tremble and
“home sweet home” will never
hang quite straight and
the warped floors will roll
your lost pens under the furniture

but after all, you’re building
your house on a fault line
the active, sparking, electrical space
between the ideal and the real
between the calling and the living

you, the synapse, that bridges the gap
yours is the dance and the balance
and the task of inviting
what could be into being
