Spring Release

my shoulders tense like new spring buds
with leaves furled tight against the wood
they shake in winds that chill and tear
at branches long left winter bare
but when the sun breaks through the gloom
the buds begin to burst and bloom
the sunlight soothes the stress of toil
and softens me like furrowed soil
