Day Hefner is a pastor of the Nebraska Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA). She currently serves as the transitional pastor of Spirit of Hope Lutheran Church in Lincoln, NE. A native of Nebraska, Day originally hails from the village of Coleridge, has a degree in music from Nebraska Wesleyan University and previously served as a Nebraska Synod staff member in Omaha. Day is a Returned Peace Corps Volunteer, fluent in Spanish (and English!), and graduated from the Lutheran School of Theoloy at Chicago (LSTC) with a Hispanic ministry emphasis. She is excited to be called to the messiness of being church in the 21st century — to help the church reconnect with a world hungry for the unconditional love and grace it has to share — and to explore with curiosity, hope, creativity, and compassion the new things God is calling into being. Day is particularly known for her big laugh, her love of cats, and her total lack of control around craft supplies (especially yarn).
